In 2022, Jay Gardoqui, a Chicago based music producer and audio engineer, worked with Ind!go Black, a Los Angeles based lyricist and performer, to create an eight-track alternative hip-hop album. I was approached by the duo in Fall of 2022 to create the visual identity for their project, OATMEAL.
OATMEAL Cover Art
Compositing, Photoshop
Using a photograph provided to me by Ind!go Black I composited in a version of the OATMEAL sticker onto the, already, very decorative wall. Along with this I added in remnants of the tracklist/original cover to give the appearance of the listener "ripping" away the tracklist to reveal the cover underneath, playing with a theme of outdoor art and wheat pasting.

OATMEAL Track List
Paper Collage, Paint Marker, Photoshop
Utilizing their albums lead single cover, featuring a painting of Jay Gardoqui and Ind!go Black, done by Amira Diaw, I began by layering the image up utilizing multiple printed copies of the cover, eventually adding in my finalized OATMEAL paper cutout.
OATMEAL Font
Marker, pen, sketchbook paper, bristol board
During our discussions, there was a revolving theme of nostalgia and history within hip-hop and its culture, which is something they wanted to echo within the visual contents of their project. Graffiti styled lettering of the albums title, OATMEAL, was where I began my initial design explorations.

OATMEAL Sticker
Glossy vinyl kiss cut stickers
Worked with a sticker service to produce stickers of the digital iteration of the OATMEAL logo. The stickers where then handed out to people as well as pasted around popular sticker spots in Chicago.

OATMEAL Release Poster
Photoshop
The albums pre-release poster which featured a working QR code that would direct people to the albums pre-save page.
OATMEAL Shirts
Water based screen printing ink on shirt
After the albums release, the duo did a show in Downtown LA where they had the opportunity to sell merch. I designed and printed fifty front and back t-shirt graphics that were then shipped to LA and sold at the show.
The Love Song Bar Setlist
Photoshop, Illustrator
A setlist design for IND!GO BLACK and Jay Gardoqui's first performance after the release of OATMEAL.
